Free Feed Tester

See what Google rejects in your product feed, what quietly limits your visibility in free listings, and exactly how to fix it. No login, no upload.

Check your feed

Drop in your feed URL and we read every product against the Google Merchant Center specification, then hand you the fixes that matter most.

Free check, no login

Works with XML and CSV. We read the feed, we never store it.

What the free check looks at

The reasons your products never show up

Most feeds are not broken, they are incomplete. A missing field costs you the whole product, a vague title costs you the searches that matter. We read every product and separate the two.

Rejected products

Missing id, title, description, link, image, availability or price. Google drops these products entirely, so they appear in neither free listings nor Shopping ads.

Titles that undersell

Too short, all caps, over 150 characters, or stuffed with promotional words. The title is the strongest matching signal you have, and it is the field most shops leave on autopilot.

Thin descriptions

Under 100 characters, identical to the title, or full of HTML. For free listings this is where Google reads what your product actually is, so a weak description narrows where you can appear.

Missing identifiers

No brand, GTIN, or Google product category. Without them Google cannot match your product to the same item elsewhere, and it guesses your category, often wrongly.

Why feed quality decides visibility

Free listings run on the same data

Free product listings in Google Shopping, Search and Images all read from the feed you already submit to Merchant Center. There is no separate organic feed and no second chance: whatever is missing there is missing everywhere.

That makes feed quality an organic channel, not an advertising chore. A product with a clear title, a real description, a brand and a GTIN can appear for far more searches than the same product with three empty fields, without spending anything extra.

It also compounds. Google uses the same attributes to decide which products belong in comparison surfaces and, increasingly, which ones AI assistants cite when someone asks what to buy. Incomplete data quietly removes you from conversations you never see.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the shopping feed tester

What kind of feed can I check?

Any publicly reachable product feed in XML or CSV. That covers the RSS format Merchant Center expects, exports from Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and Lightspeed, and the tab-separated files most feed managers produce. Paste the URL and we work out the format ourselves.

Do you store my feed or my product data?

No. We fetch the feed, read it in memory, count the issues and return the result. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is kept after the check finishes. You do not need an account and we do not ask for an email.

How is the score calculated?

Per product, not per issue. Every product is judged on its worst problem: one that Google would reject scores nothing, one with only warnings counts for most of a point, and a clean product counts in full. That way a single broken product does not drag an otherwise healthy feed to zero, and 90 clean products out of 100 gives you roughly 90.

Why does it say a product will be rejected?

Because one of the seven required attributes is empty: id, title, description, link, image_link, availability or price. Merchant Center refuses those products outright, so they cannot appear in free listings or ads. It is the fastest win in most feeds, because the data usually exists in your shop and simply is not being exported.

Is a GTIN really necessary?

For anything with a manufacturer barcode, yes. The GTIN is how Google recognises that your product is the same one sold elsewhere, which is what puts you into comparisons and price surfaces. If you genuinely have no GTIN, for private label or handmade goods, set identifier_exists to no and provide brand plus mpn instead.

How often should I check?

After every structural change to your feed, and then monthly. Feeds drift: a plugin update drops an attribute, a new product category is exported without descriptions, a currency format changes. Most damage we see was introduced by a change nobody thought would touch the feed.
